Venetian Painting

The High owns two great works of Venetian painting from the 1700s, both donated to the Museum by Samuel H. Kress. Giovanni Battista Tiepolo’s Roman Matrons Making Offerings to Juno and Sebastiano Ricci’s The Battle of the Lapiths and Centaurs both present mythological and historical subjects through energetic compositions.
