On the second Sunday of each month, we offer free admission for all visitors from 12 noon to 5 p.m. and special programming from 1 to 4 p.m. Bring the entire family and enjoy art-making activities, tours, performances, and the High’s collection and special exhibitions. Each month has new activities and adventures planned especially for you.
Find inspiration in our galleries and then get creative in our family-friendly art workshops. High Museum teaching artists lead drop-in classes where we provide the supplies and you make the masterpieces.
At the High, our teaching artists read with children and invite them to make meaning of a book’s art, text, and design. Our interactive story times—inspired by Megan Dowd Lambert’s Whole Book Approach—include drama, movement, and opportunities to touch and handle objects related to the books.
Each book follows a theme and fosters engagement with art and storytelling. The High collaborates with Atlanta-based children’s librarians to select developmentally appropriate books and ensure a wonderful experience for you and your child.
Greene Family Learning Gallery: CREATE and EXPERIENCE
Located adjacent to the Robinson Atrium in the Stent Family Wing, the Greene Family Learning Gallery includes two distinct spaces that offer a welcoming, safe, and fun environment that is child-centered and child-directed with age-appropriate activities for kids ranging from babies to eight-year-olds. The open-ended, intuitive, multisensory elements, designed to be inclusive for all, combine cutting-edge technology with hands-on activities. On Second Sundays, the Greene Family Learning Gallery is open on a first-come, first-serve basis. We limit the number of visitors to keep play safe and fun for everyone. Join the lines for the CREATE and EXPERIENCE rooms by 4 p.m.
The High Museum’s sensory room, open during Second Sundays, is designed as a safe space to promote self-care and recovery for visiting families. In this room, you will find noise-canceling headphones, a crash pad, calm lighting, texture objects, and multiple toys. The sensory room is located in the Yellow Workshop on the Lower Level of the Stent Family Wing. If you have feedback on the sensory room or would like to request additional accommodations, please contact the Manager of Family Programs, Melissa Katzin, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 404-733-4465.
Generous support for this program is provided by the Lettie Pate Evans Foundation.
